A detailed view of the weathered limestone ruins of Bective Abbey in County Meath. The grey stone walls, mottled with white lichen, feature a tall square tower and narrow window openings. To the right, a large, leafless deciduous tree creates a dense, intricate pattern of dark branches against a pale, hazy blue sky. A low stone wall and dark wooden fence run across the bottom of the frame, grounding the ancient structure in a serene, wintry landscape.

A vibrant landscape photo taken on a sunny day at Loughcrew. In the foreground, large, rough, moss-dappled grey boulders sit on bright green grass. In the background, a massive ancient mound made of countless small grey stones rises against a brilliant blue sky with a few fluffy white clouds. The sunlight casts strong shadows around the foreground rocks, giving the scene a rugged, historic, and peaceful feel.

A bright, tranquil daytime scene featuring a steep, grassy earthen mound sitting beside a calm, dark pond. The still water perfectly reflects the mound, the surrounding green banks, and the brilliant blue sky filled with fluffy white clouds overhead. Bare winter trees stand in the background. The lighting is crisp and natural, highlighting the rich earthy colours and creating a deeply peaceful, historic atmosphere.

I stumbled upon this gorgeous slice of Norman history mirrored in the waters at Loughcrew Estate Gardens yesterday. A perfectly peaceful moment to pause & soak in the view!

Black and white photo of the entrance to a monumental prehistoric tomb. Large boulders - topped by a single stone slab - flank the darkened entranceway at ground level. Just above that, is a deep recess which is faced with light colored, irregularly shaped stones that contrast with the darker, rough ashlar masonry of the tomb’s exterior. A wide boulder - featuring incised geometric patterns - occupies the foreground.

Really troubling news regarding a planned IPAS centre at Oaktree Business Park off Athboy Road in the Heritage Town of #Trim in #CountyMeath.
This seems to be a recipe for disaster.
Who is profiting from this debacle?
Pls stop this nonsense.

I've passed this place hundreds of times, but I've never stopped. Love a good historic site. It's about 500 years old.

Cairn T, a huge pile of pebbles, with another, much smaller and denuded cairn in the foreground. The grass is green, the sky immensely grey. Ollie is visible as a dark blob in the middle of the pic.

Went to Loughcrew today. As is traditional for our visits to cairns on hills, it rained quite a lot. Worth it though! #neolithic #dailymegalith #CountyMeath #RepublicofIreland (2024) #archaeology
