That time I kept a carpet beetle larva and it started to eat its way through the plastic container 😳
Really hits home that polystyrene is an organic molecule. Other beetle larvae, like mealworms, are known to feed on it too.

Happy 17. #HexapoDezember Seid ihr eher Kulturfolger oder Kulturflüchter (hemerophil/hemerophob)? Die Speckkäfer (englisch skin beetle oder carpet beetle) treten mit ihren 6 Füßen nicht immer da auf, wo Mensch sie gerne hätte, aber sie sind ein paar hundert Mio. Jahre länger da als wir #Dermestidae

What is this?!
It is a Varied carpet beetle, Anthrenus verbasci.
A 3mm long beetle and it can be found in oxeye daisies as here, but also a pest indoors.
