They’re supposed to bloom this summer months, but for some reason they didn’t bec. of the record-breaking heat last July and August.. Last Friday morn, I was surprised and elated to see them finally flowering! I planted em in a pot over at the shades of our backyard last early spring.. I hope they survive the harsh winter and will not dry-up. 春先に植えた裏庭の鉢植えラベンダーが、ようやく開花し始めました。今年は秋にしては少し暖かいですね.. 厳しい冬を乗り越えて、来年の夏には綺麗に咲いてくれるといいのですが。

One of the earliest to bloom among the MANY varieties of their ‘Sakura’ or Cherry blossoms here ー the Kawadzu Sakura (河津桜) .. usually raging for about a month/or more earlier to bloom as compared to the more symbolic and famous Somei Yoshino Sakuras (the white ones).. we drove an hour and a half from home, on a Sunday to see these pink beauties, at a park near Kameyama Dam (souths of Chiba) where we usually go out bass fishing, and near as well to where hubby plays golf sometimes. Weather was warm and the trees were radiant and glowing under the blue skies..｡

Going up Mt. Esan, we need to pass through at least three tunnels to get to my husband’s hometown from Hakodate main city proper. Photo depicts one of those tunnel, we drove and pass thru, curving and low.. and only one way from the road in the city if you take the Marina path against the mountaneous road. Afternoon spring light peering into it, i held my camera and waited before the final curve. Tunnel leads to a scenic cape along the ocean front of 恵山 (Mount Esan) and the vast 津軽海峡 (Tsugaru Kaikyo or Tsugaru straight, yes the name as depicted in the famous Enka song of 石川さゆり/Sayuri Ishikawa🎤 ) in the north. T'was a spontaneous shot as i took it from a moving vehicle 🚗💨.. while i was sitting by the front seat while hubby drove the wheel.

A photo of an old and abandoned 蕎麦屋 (Japanese Buckwheat noodle restaurant) or Soba’ya , already covered by creeping vain plants all over its exterior.. i used to pass by here on my way to work whenever i take a different route than usual. Makes me wonder what was it like? or how was it like? — - during the showa era years, when it was probably bustling in life.. A poignant, sad feeling too come washing all over me whenever i see old shops or structures that has ran out of business and no choice but to abandon the place..

Nightshot from atop the i-link town Ichikawa Observatory Deck. Seen are 江戸川 Edogawa (Edo River curved all the way to Tokyo Metropolis, so bright in the center is perhaps Ichinoe Subway Metro Station (judging from the nearing iron bridge that linked Ichikawa, Chiba to ⇆ Tokyo city proper (Shinkoiwa, Edogawa ward) and only the Edo river separating the two prefectures. Weather was clear here, late of November 2024 when I took this and already so bloody cold and windy🌬️.. tripods are not allowed in this observatory deck so I needed to just shoot away with my hands and trust that my camera won’t fail me (trivia: setting my shutter speed for long exposure shots is still to this day on, my greatest Waterloo💦)..
