This is "Thorpe Bay" by Henry Silk from 1934. This was painted near the old Southend Gas works jetty which one can see in the background. I have marked the approximate position of the sitter on the map, courtesy of National Library of Scotland, Maps. #HenrySilk #EastLondonGroup #Southend #ThorpeBay

This is "By the Lake" by Phyllis Bray from 1931. I believe that it was painted whilst she & her new husband, John Cooper were on honeymoon in Italy/Switzerland when he painted his view of "Ascona" so, the "lake" in this case would be Lake Maggiore. #PhyllisBray #EastLondonGroup

Even though it is still very early in the year, on #BankHolidayMonday I thought that this painting of "Punch" by Cecil Osborne from 1933 might suit. I have also included Cecil's archive photo of the scene which it turns out was at Walton-on-the-Naze #CecilOsborne #EastLondonGroup

Here's one that I've only ever shown here rarely. This is "Weston Hall" by John Cooper. It is undated but I suspect that it comes from between 1931 & 1933. Weston Hall is just a few miles from Cooper's family home at Menston in Yorkshire. #JohnCooper #Yorkshire #EastLondonGroup

Here's another one that I haven't shown for a very long time! This is "Stoke by Nayland" by Harold Steggles from 1933. It seems to me to be a bit of an "outlier" where Harold's work is concerned but it is lovely, nonetheless. #HaroldSteggles #EastLondonGroup
