If you're out and about near any wooded areas over the next few weeks, keep an eye out for theses fungi. They're called Scarlet Elf Cups. They get their name from the ancient belief that wood elves drank the morning dew from them.

Most likely Scarlet #Elfcup (Sarcoscypha austriaca), but could be Ruby Elf Cup (Sarcoscypha coccinea). I'd need a microscope to be sure. Great time of year to see them on rotting wood, often Hazel, Elm & Willow. #fungi
