the smell of moss on a winters day clears the mind of now. it's everywhere in this open break of dense forest. it covers the ground debris like a blanket of calm absorbing everything that once lived high in the trees. cheeky ferns tease, 'you can't get me' but there is no competition for all is well and watched over by the sentries who for generations have minded this land. in the distance a sunbeam enfolded in blue sky.
