Due to unavoidable circumstances I was not able to check back in on it for a little under an hour and when I did, I was greeted with this magnificent spectacle. The process of a cicada emerging is called #ecdysis, the shed shells of their old selves are called #exuviae

Perhaps a Large red damselfly as was seen flying the day before in garden.
tiny brown shed skin of an early instar insect. Abdominal end is to the left, head end is to the right and the stumpy antennal forms can be seen.
Always a good sign when the first exuviae of the year is found.
This one was under pine trees in Brede High Woods.
