In the photo, there is a lizard undergoing the natural process of shedding its skin. The lizard is green and perched on some square stones.

Like the phoenix, many animals are reborn from time to time, shedding their old skin to continue growing. Photographing this lizard during this natural process was a wonderful experience.

Due to unavoidable circumstances I was not able to check back in on it for a little under an hour and when I did, I was greeted with this magnificent spectacle. The process of a cicada emerging is called #ecdysis, the shed shells of their old selves are called #exuviae
