Maybe I'm just parsing it the wrong way, but could you get away with this restaurant name anywhere other Glasgow? And it's in the fashionable area of Finnieston, too!

The toll house, gate and weigh station at Sandyford seem to have been demolished just prior to this in the late 1850s, to be replaced in the 1860s by the tenement buildings you can see in the foreground of the top image.

Good morning, Glasgow. The city is waking up and getting ready for the day, with the light from businesses on ground floors spilling out onto the surrounding pavements and bringing life to the otherwise rather dark early morning streets.

However, these lines once ran west from here between the good sheds that lined Stobcross Quay and the Queen's Dock (now the Scottish Events Campus) and north to the main railway lines alongside Pointhouse Road (now the Clydesyde Expressway).

This weigh station appears on an OS map from the 1890s, indicating, it is potentially older than the nearby Finnieston Crane, although it may not be the same mechanism as was originally installed.

Thought to have been designed by Alexander Kirkland, it's the most impressive building in a pretty much untouched 1850s tenement streetscape in the west of the city that is an important, but under appreciated, part of its architectural heritage.

I love this gushet building on the corner of Argyle Street and Minerva Street in Glasgow. Despite its granduer, I suspect many people drive or walk past it every day without really taking in its true beauty.

Designed by Alexander Kirkland, the curving column of recessed bow windows are typical of this time period and can also be seen on tenements designed by Alexander 'Greek' Thomson.

If this is the case, it s33ms likely that the name on it is that of James Roberston, its occupant at the time, and possibly its original owner. However, with only an incomplete inscription to go on, we might never know for certain.

This faded plaque can be found in the Hidden Lane in the West End of Glasgow. Barely legible, only the the words This Wall and the date 1830 are relatively clear, along with what seems to be the first name of James.
