Large and in-charge, this Pleistocene bison 🦬 was MUCH larger than the bison we see in the American west today.

The horns of Bison latifrons measured 84 in. tip to tip, compared to 26-35 in. in modern bison.

Over 75 million years ago, Troodon, medium-sized meat-eating dinosaurs, nested in the same area as Maiasaura, large hadrosaurs, or duck-billed dinosaurs.

Museum of the Rockies is still actively studying this important site.

The study of plants is called paleobotany 🌿, a subfield of paleontology.

Between 66 and 58 million years ago, a leaf fell from a tree 🍁 and left its impression in the mud, only to be discovered by curious fossil hunters in 1936.

Dromaeosaurs, or "raptors," had recurved hand claws that assisted them in holding and grasping their struggling prey.

This partial maxilla, or upper jaw, belongs to one of the largest Cretaceous hadrosaurs, Edmontosaurus.

As their teeth 😬 wore down, they were replaced throughout their life, giving them an endless supply of teeth and zero dental bill.

Plesiosaurs like Edgarosaurus were air breathing marine reptiles that swam the seas 🌊 while dinosaurs lived on land.

Not only is this a GORGEOUS specimen, but 11 sharp, serrated teeth were discovered with it, leading researchers to believe it was killed by a pack of Deinonychus.

Discovered by Dr. David Varricchio in 1991 on BLM land in Montana.

This little one never made it, but it’s helping us unlock secrets of how Troodon grew, and adds to our knowledge of dinosaur reproduction.

Ornithomimids were bird-like dinosaurs with sleek bodies built for speed!

If you saw one alive, you'd swear it was an ostrich, complete with wings πŸͺΆ and a toothless beak.

This adult T.rex (MOR 980) was found near Fort Peck Lake in 1997 and is one of the most complete T. rex specimen ever found.
