#OTD in #History 2 July 1937, #AmeliaEarhart and navigator #FredNoonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean on their way to Howland Island. The official Navy report concluded they had run out of fuel, crashed, and drowned. Noonan was declared dead in 1938; Earhart in 1939.
