I went on the hunt for mushrooms in Wisley’s Hilltop gardens and only found one which my search suggests might be a type of bolete mushroom. Having read about tiny mushrooms on Holly leaves I searched for some and found tiny patches of lichen. So interesting!

Yesterday the little white bumps turned onto little black dots in white stalks
Growth on a leaf in the big outdoor colony. Long oval black heads on white legs. These are maturing faster than the rest, some are hinting at color change.

Common earthball fungus in leaf litter, with thick yellow-brown, warty skin split open to reveal a dark mass of powdery spores inside, ready to be dispersed by wind and rain.
There are still a few Common Earthballs (Scleroderma citrinum) about.
This photo was taken yesterday…all those spores drying in a gentle breeze. Today it poured, and every raindrop will launch them.

I know it from three localities, some years I have seen several finds in local fungi groups.
Again, the IUCN category seems dubious.
It can have resinous smell. (Noticed in two finds, the remaining was old and in bad state.)

I need an ID on this one because I feel my ID app is gaslighting me: I am pretty certain this is a Multiclavula mucida Lichen and not a Clavulina rugosa.
Can anyone shed some light on these little guys?

I made this #mushroom gravy boat using a vintage #slipcast mold. Useful for gravy of course, but it also makes a cute little flower pot, or in this case, a fungal bouquet of golden #chanterelles!
It didn't sell at the fest, so I guess I'm eating the chanterelles.
