Females, or peahens, are duller, with brownish plumage and no train. Native to the Indian subcontinent, they are found in forests and cultivated land near water. 🌍 Vulturine guinea fowl (Acryllium vulturinum) The vulturine guinea fowl is a striking bird with a bare blue face, black neck, and a cape of glossy blue and white hackles. Its body is dark grey, finely spotted with white, and it has a vibrant cobalt blue breast. Found in dry, open habitats of northeastern Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Tanzania), they are primarily terrestrial. These social birds live in flocks, foraging for seeds and invertebrates. They are excellent runners, preferring to escape danger on foot, but roost in trees at night.
