I forgot to share my #GardenGifts for today! Our peach tree woke up and the pale swallowtail dropped by! The last sunlight on Lyon’s Peak makes it pink-ish against the shadowy chaparral; you can see our birdhouses here. The gazanias are very happy too at this time of year.
The yellow swallowtail butterfly is on the tip of the peach branch which is piping with pink blossoms. It really stands out against the shadowy background.
In this photo, there are large rocks among the hillside geraniums. There are two scrub oak trees that each have a birdhouse facing north. In the background Lyon’s Peak is highlighted in the sun’s last rays over the mountain behind us so it turns pink. It only lasts a couple of minutes and then, it’s gone and it gets dark quickly.
This is our back hillside. In the foreground, there are many white daisy -like blossoms on the gazania bushes, which do well in the partial shade provided by the pine trees just above them. In the background, the large rocks and the edge of chaparral, where our quail live. I love our home.
