While it might be assumed that Queen's Park is named after Queen Victoria, who was on the throne when it was created, it's actually named after Mary Queen of Scots, who lost the Battle of Langside, close to the park, in 1568.

In Victorian Glasgow such open spaces amongst the densely packed tenements were seen as an important part of the city's infrastructure and for the well-being of its inhabitants.

Love the positioning of this bench in amongst the beech trees in Dawsholm Park in Glasgow. It's a great place to sit and listen to the birds singing all around you.

Despite being beyond the city's boundaries, it was created on land gifted to the citizens of Glasgow in the early 1900s by Archibald Cameron Corbett, who, at the time was the Liberal Unionist MP for Tradeston.

Love this bench made from a fallen tree and upcycled chair backs in Queen's Park in Glasgow. I didn't get a chance to try it out, but it's certainly different!

It doesn't cause me much inconvenience when I drive around the West End of the city, and it's created a rather brilliant, and well-used, public space which re-unites the two sides of Kelvingrove Park.

It was another wonderfully sunny morning on Kelvin Way in Glasgow. For me, closing this road to traffic (which happened in 2020) has been a major success.

Good morning, Glasgow. The sun is out, the skies are blue and the blossom trees across the city are starting their annual display. I've a feeling it's going to be another wonderful day!

Just over a year after it was set fire to and destroyed by vandals, the train in Houldsworth Park in Anderston has finally been replaced, much to the joy of the local kids. Thanks to Glasgow City Council and all those who helped make this happen.
