Finished Gyeongseong Creature S2 (Netflix). It was pretty relentless and the violence that befell our beloved characters was tough. However, I appreciated its exploration of generational trauma and the reminder to never forget the past โ for reasons both good and bad #kdrama #GyeongseongCreature

I finished #GyeongseongCreature S1 last night and, while it's not perfect (I struggled with the pacing midway through), I found a lot to like. The cast is extremely impressive and I very much appreciated how the show explored such a difficult and devastating chapter in history #kdrama

Before I watch the finale it hit me that the manga finale set in modern day might intentionally tie in with the show? So is Lady Maeda planning a Najin outbreak via those milk drinks? Therefore this show might not get resolved by ending on a cliffhanger?

We learn a lot more about the backstory at Jeonseung Biotech and well it's pretty much as expected.
There's a lot to cram into the final ep and I've zero confidence it all gets resolved decently.

There is nowhere really for the show to go now we know Ho-jae is Tae-sang and he has been reunited with Chae-ok. Still the rest of the plot is just resolving the (bad) science-y bit and the good news is there's now just 1 ep left.

We get an extended flashback to 1947 and remember all those cheerful cheeky characters from Season 1 working in the pawn shop? Well they all got brutally butchered by Maeda's assassins. So they brought the actors back just to murder them including the old lady.

S2 is resolving S1 but like who cares? We didn't care about anyone in the dog's dinner of S1 for us to have a reason to care what they're all up to 79 years later. It's all kind of Highlander-y but also meaningless. Saying that I am enjoying S2 far more than S1.

I did notice that the manga "The Unwithering Flower" closely adheres to how the Najin affects humans in this S2. So it seems the manga and S2 were on the same page by design even though that manga's throw forward to the modern day doesn't appear to link to S2.

As S2 is just 7 short eps so the story is being told quick. That Ho-jae is Tae-sang would normally be revealed about 15 eps into a K-Drama not 3 eps.
The ep was just action and that's fine as the overall arc isn't anything new.
