The furthest end of the laid hedge, just before the footpath gate with the last part of the hedge resting on the wooden rail which separates the two parts of the hedge from the ancient footpath (well, at least a few hundred years, going by maps).

The brash from hedge laying spread out evenly over a wide area of rather soggy field.
Spread out brash with clear path running down length of hedge.
Almost finished spreading out the brash to discourage birds nesting before I can cut out firewood and anything for dead hedging or habitat, then shred the rest. Much as I always loved bonfires I can no longer bear to waste the carbon or pollute the air.

I'm going to have to be quick spreading this brash out, as I saw a Wren investigating one of these piles while I was working!

I've just started the task of creating a clear path on the field side of the laid hedge, so I can finish it off. Moving the brash and spreading it out thinly, to deter birds from nesting there until I can get my shredder on the soggy field.
