I stopped playing mid HW & didn’t return until post-EW & wanted to move on from my past WoL, so idk how this’ll count, but I used to play a Miqo’te.
I had a catgirl OC I rp’d with my MS/HS bff & took that energy into xiv with me.

Outfits I put Hex in for the Arcadion, based on fight.
I wanted modern/futuristic/battle outfits. 1st outfit's LHW which I kept into Cruiser (but with silver skirt), then changed to 2nd pic. 3rd pic's Heavy. 4th is weapon used during all of it.⤵️

I usually do the same as OP; there’ll be a piece I’m dying to use so I try to build around it.
Sometimes I see combinations I like on others & will try to copy, but usually they don’t look right on Hex so I ended up switching around pieces from there.
#HexDesign I love purple & with Hex being a cooler slightly skin tone than my original WoL, I opted for a cooler color for the highlights, deciding on that periwinkle blue. As for the eyes, the gem on her face is red so I wanted to bring out more red. I like how it all came together.

Originally it was because I couldn’t cast. I didn’t want Hex to be a job I didn’t know how to play (worried I’d get into an rp where it’d be expected).
I kind of learned how to cast (the faster casters at least) & heal (fates & Bozja) but I kept Hex unable to cast,⤵️

DRK. Hex's constantly screwed over, from her mother’s “disowning” & sister’s bullying, to kidnapping that left her in Ul’dah, & everything against her in MSQ, but she still lets others dictate plans & puts herself in harm's way to help others while ignoring the weight on her.⤵️

Minfilia was supposed to be strictly an employer.
Then I started thinking how someone like Hex probably needs the stability of somewhere to return to so Minfilia’s “Pray return to the Waking Sands” became less about work & more about Hex having something consistent in her rattled life.⤵️

As much as I want to say Celes because of the whole figuring out what to do after being kicked out of the world you know, Hex is probably like Cloud because similar childhoods being excluded by peers, ending up more quiet & stoic in appearance, take up a contractor for hire type job,⤵️

My original Hex from years ago was a Miqo’te (I liked making catgirl oc’s). This was back when the game still only had 5 options.
When I returned, I didn’t want to look at my character anymore. I contemplated being an Au Ra because there were talks of them before I quit &⤵️

I loved how Hex looked in the striking version of the Brightlinen Himation (the accessories, the crop top, etc) but blue looks amazing on her so when I took up dancer that ofc became a default outfit (also like how it looks when she moves/dances in it).

Hex had shorter hair through EW, though most of you didn't meet me until her shoulder length hair (or ponytail). It took a while for me to change her hair & most styles I've given her (even in her past) tend to be shorter/mid-length

I wouldn’t say to a T, because I’ve misread things before & I’d die if foundation of Hex’s lore was so tightly bound to it
However, I’m close-ish; Hex doesn’t get a break from it, other than her mistaken opinions, but death, suffering & Thancred rarely being around lately are still there

I just combined names for my ships:
Hex + Ardbert = Hexbert (also sounds like expert because this ship is top tier & Hexbertly crafted 👌)
Hex + Thancred = Rainwaters (1st names sounded weird then friend suggested last names & I-

Quiet, reserved, withdrawn, brave despite the adversity she faces. Hex is usually not too expressive, but she is rather sentimental, hiding her feelings & keeping a straight face & strong front to not think about her troubles or worry anyone around her.

Hex had the Viera short braid style with the bangs past EW.
I was sometimes envious of those who’d switch their hairstyles often but every time I tried, nothing seemed to suit her (the only other one that seemed to look good at the time was Styled for Hire & I still don’t have that lol)⤵️

Uimet! Hex had the bang/braid ver of that hairstyle when I was going through SHB so it caught me off guard when she appeared.
Because of this, I ended up designing Hex's sisters based on Uimet's sisters.

Blues & purples. Blues for the outfits, purples for her hair. I usually end up associating her with Indigo since it’s in the middle.

Hex’s younger brother was supposed to be a bigger deal than he ended up being due to inspo from TOB & Hex was supposed to be pursuing full, unable to live normal life revenge (why she can cook, why she’s attached to Alphi, etc)

I talk about Hex’s flaws & more emotional connection sides, a lot but they aren’t obvious to someone who doesn’t know Hex.
Like she comes off as more the standard fierce independent Viera who’s just going to do her own thing (aka not looking like she’s having trouble focusing).

All I knew when starting Hex was that she never actually wanted to leave home (inspired by Viera lore).
It was originally going to be a revenge story, but everything else just kind of fell into place in SHB & I worked on her present story as I went through EW.⤵️

I actually have a lot of modded outfits saved for her too, but tend to forget what I have & usually end up sticking to unmodded (aside from ones that add a little more curve & muscle definition to the in game gear).

I dyed Hex’s robes Abyssal Blue & paired with Shadow Blue sleeves
It reminded me of how anime!KNY’s Shinobu’s uniform is blue-black compared to other demon slayers’ uniforms so I kept blue for Hex’s Ancient Astraea (but then say “it’s black but worn from adventure”)⤵️

#Rainwaters- I originally thought Thancred was annoying with his flirting. I wouldn’t stop telling Zen how annoying he was & Zen was half-seriously teasing me about how “obsessed” I seemed to be with him.⤵️
