A ★★★ review of The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (1964) Michael Carreras did a wonderful job of running Hammer Films, but his skills as a director were rather workman-like, resulting in mostly soulless, low-brow product. The Curse Of The Mummy's Tomb is a perfect example of this, as a handsome but largely empty entry in the Mummy subgenre. Curse boosts itself from the get-go by cribbing the wonderful Reizenstein title track from 1959's The Mummy not once but twice. It's the dubious privilege of Mummy movies to deliver racist diatribes against cultural appropriation, lecturing against stealing historical relics from third world countries, as their brown-skinned people will take revenge with
