People with chronic health conditions and who are #immunocompromised are the ones who are/will be hit hardest by the war on vaccines. Meanwhile people who acquire #disabilities from things like polio deserve rights and services... But an austere, eugenicist society surely won't guarantee them.

I finished reading Viktor Frankel’s “Man’s Search for Meaning” last night, and I’m finding it difficult to say I “enjoyed” it, considering the subject matter, but it certainly resonated with me. I found the first half of the book, where he recounts observations from his time as a prisoner in the concentration camps of WWII, easier to read than the second half, which was more a condensed psychotherapy handbook on the school of Logotherapy, which he’s considered a founder of. I am not in any way equating my own suffering with that of a holocaust survivor, but many of the lessons he learned resonated deeply with me, and techniques I used to endure ended up being similar to ones he used. His observations that camp inmates who endured were those who retreated into memories for safety, had something of meaning or someone to look forward to in that distant day of release in future… how the human mind becomes numb and desensitised through suffering… all of it I felt deeply.

In the second half, his belief that the meaning of life boils down to an individual’s actions, experiences, and response to suffering really moved me. Even if you are not productive, you can live a meaningful life through experiencing love or the beauty of nature or through dignity in hardship - I needed to hear this. I also was struck by his observation that, while youths have endless possibilities ahead of them, older people have a richer life because even though there are fewer possibilities left, their store of memories is so much fuller, and those are concrete and forever. This was a very different book than I’m used to reading, but it had moments of deep resonance and meaning to me. It’s free to download from archive.org, and is a pretty short read. 7/10

Everyone sick at work. I'm #immunocompromised from #congenitalheartdefect #birthdefect The twisted #irony of working in #pharmacy. I have to do extra maintence but the shifts are 7 hours which is nice just an average amount.

4 COVID face shields are placed on the wooden floor tiles of my apartment. Two masks per row. Each mask has its own unique design. Three of the masks have a political message via red sticker letters on the black band on top of the face shield which otherwise is clear. The text reads respectively: "fight fascism", "create & resist" "abolish ice". There are a variety of stickers on the shields, some colorful fake gem stickers, some gold brassy stickers, there's some cutout strips of gold glitter stickers that are from larger letters, And lastly there's some yellow circular stickers. design with a cutout sunflower stickers]

Holy crap, so I posted this mask art that I made, and some people in the COVID conscious / still masking group and I had recently joined GOT IT! 💜

The COVID face shield itself is mostly clear and a bit of a half rounded rectangle type shape. There's a black band at the top which would go across your forehead and although you can't see it there is a black band that goes around the back of your head and keeps it on. Now that said I've added these Pearl stickers along the bottom of the black band and then on the Black band itself in a red sticker lettering where each letter is individual sticker is the text: fight fascism.
