Days ago I added the #IndependentSocialist hashtag to my Twitter name. But I've replaced it with #WorkersUnited. Why did I do that? Does anyone care? Maybe no one cares but I want to explain anyway. How many independent socialists are there in the UK today? At least 200,000 exiles from Labour.

There are reasons why TUSC is unlikely to elect a single councilor in May's local elections. I think every #IndependentSocialist should debate why that might be. Starmer and Badenoch will be crippled; Farage may win almost everywhere. Greens and some independents may do ok. But TUSC won't. How come?

If there's no socialist candidate in the #Runcorn by-election - despite Nigel Farage's problems with one of his MPs and Elon Musk -, his far-right ReformUK will get another MP. But this won't happen if Starmer's left flank is exposed in the electoral arena. So, is every #IndependentSocialist ready?

I think every #IndependentSocialist needs to send a message loud and clear to TUSC, TransformPolitics, Collective etc that we're unhappy with being reduced to spectators to decisions made without our democratic participation. We need one party. And it can't have the name of an existing organization.

I have just added #IndependentSocialist to my bio on BlueSky. Why? My guess is that 99% plus of those who identify ourselves as socialists in the UK don't belong to TUSC, Transform or still clinging to Labour, Greens, SNP, etc. We all supported Jeremy Corbyn and today we feel disenfranchised. #ZS4PM
