Just finished Exposure by Ramona Emerson! This is the 2nd book to Shutter. This picks up right where we left off. The intense detail that is given in these books is wild. Rita is a Navajo crime scene photographer who sees ghosts. ⬇️ #BookSky #IndigenousBookSky

Just finished Braiding Sweetgrass and it's equal part infuriating, informative, and hopeful. It's grounding in a way I didn't fully expect and low-key funny. I think Kimmerer is only the 2nd indigenous author I've read (w/ Alexie) and I need to change that.

On top of a green blanket with white lines in the repeating square shapes lies my steam deck which is playing Spirit City Lofi. My avatar in the game sits on her bed reading, with the new Catsudon spirit also reading. You can see the green bar of the timer going.
Below the steam deck is a paperback copy of Love After the End: An Anthology of Two-Spirit & Indigoqueer Speculative Fiction Edited by Joshua Whitehead. The cover looks like an oil painting of a mountain range in the distance, a body of water and a shore with tall trees. A man wrapped in a blue robe and a feather headless stands on the shores. There are figures that to me look to be wood carvings around him. The title is in big but thin lettering. There is an embedded sticker for the Lambda Literary Awards Winner

A grey blanket and a yellow blanket scrunched up to prop up a Steam Deck that has Spirit City Lofi playing. The game has my character reading and a lil salamander reading as well. You can see the time is 8:30am, and it's blurry but you can see my timer running for my reading time. In front of the Steam Deck is a mug of tea, the decor on the mug is a busy floral design with white block letters that read in all caps "Black Lives Matter" the inside of the mug is yellow. Next to the mug is a paperback copy of As Many Ships As Stars by Weyodi OldBear. The cover is a galaxy in purple and pink hues, with 3 ships hurtling through. One of the ships is closer and we see it is in a pointed shape, almost like a spinning top. Colors of blue yellow and red reflect off of it.

It is closing off a lot of literature BS I am too tired to read anymore.

Besides, I want to read characters like myself by people that look like me or at the very least have a voice and characters I can relate to.

The cover of "Never Whistle at Night" features a colourful and detailed illustration against a dark background. The title is displayed in large white letters, with the subtitle "An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology" in orange above it. The book is edited by Shane Hawk and Theodore C. Van Alst Jr., with an introduction by Stephen Graham Jones.

The illustration includes various elements such as plants, flowers, and animals. A long red snake with pink markings winds through the greenery. There are also eerie yellow eyes hidden among the grass, a frog, a mouse, and a skull-winged moth.

Upon seeing this titel, I knew I had to have this book. Growing up, not whistling at night was one of the things that I was regularly warned about. And the cover is stunning, too.
