A hand embroidered piece is displayed in a wooden hoop on a simple wooden stand. The embroidered image is a stem stitch outline of a bright orange octopus on a brilliant blue fabric. The octopus has a yellow eye and twisting tentacles with white, circular suckers on the underside. Texture and shading have been added to sections of the octopus's skin with French and colonial knots, seed stitches, and running stitches.
My latest hand embroidery, done for an octopus-loving friend. The pattern is a freebie from DMC with some elaboration by me. The fabric was indigo dyed by me at Kira's kickass indigo party. I'm pretty happy with how it all came out!
