Tried to Storify the #JesusFame chat but the process became mind-numbing. It also felt a little manipulative, i.e. me shaping other's words.
Our #JesusFame discussion yesterday was lively. Some, though, thought I was promoting a "make Jesus famous" ethic.
To be clear, I'm not.
Keep an eye out on my blog, Sing Like David, for the next chat announcement. Peace be with you all!

And for all those caught up in the #JesusFame hype, I pray that you find the space to listen to the "still small voice" calling out to you.
Thank you for your honesty, your civility, your thoughtfulness, and your witness.

Many thanks to all who participated in this #JesusFame chat. It has been amazing to hear your voices & share ideas with you!
And if fame was not Jesus's purpose, perhaps it should not be the purpose of Jesus followers.
#JesusFame
As I wrote in my post, I think fame is a red herring. Fame was not Jesus's purpose.

MT @mrajswoboda: We should not look for fame. It may be the kindling the sin of pride. And God may miss the praise he is owed. #JesusFame
I guess I'm asking, as we wind down the hour --
What do we take away from this conversation about #JesusFame?
If the Gospel is an "inversion of fame," & we seek to follow Jesus, what is the alternative to #JesusFame?
"The Gospel is essentially an inversion of the idea of fame, not an endorsement of it."

For those who use "Making Jesus Famous" in their ministry (or if you know someone who does), why? Why is it useful?
#JesusFame
Preach.
RT @krystle_wheeler: Um. Jesus is already famous. How about we disciple people into the whole taking up the cross idea? #JesusFame
Is it possible that Jesus breaks the idea of fame altogether? Is fame antithetical to the Kingdom?
#JesusFame
Are "fans" -- in our use of the word -- the same things as "followers" -- as written about in the Gospel? #JesusFame @evanwickham
MT @jeffboysen "There is an interesting relationship between the church and the current hipster culture."
Who knew Jesus 1st?
#JesusFame
Does making Jesus famous require one to make *themselves* famous?
How do we rationalize that quest for fame?
#JesusFame
Could we have the idea of #JesusFame without Capitalism? Is the concept merely an extension of Capitalism-based Christianity?
Q2: How might making Jesus famous be different than making -- say -- a product or a brand famous? How would it be the same?
#JesusFame
MT @DylanPahman: focus on being like Jesus, & it will attract people, even if you run from them into the desert. #JesusFame
Q1: Is "evangelism" the same thing as "making Jesus famous?"
