The March #JobsDay numbers show the labor market rebounded from last month with payrolls up by 178K and unemployment falling to 4.3%. But the labor market data are fluctuating wildly, with last month’s job losses revised down from 92k to a loss of 133K. (1/8)
Today’s #JobsReport for March shows a stagnant economy experiencing flat unemployment and slow job growth in 2026. But there is some surprising news for women. Read our full #JobsDay analysis here: nationalpartnership.org/women-back-i...
Check out the latest from @profcew.bsky.social and me on the latest #JobsDay numbers. While the headline data is positive, the underlying data show persistent weakening in the labor market. #Econsky

As we await the March jobs report, worth remembering on this day-after-Liberation Day anniversary just how poorly the Trump jobs market is performing.
Most striking? The nearly 1.4 million fewer people with high school diplomas or less are employed today.

#JobsDay Preview 🧵 @deanbaker13.bsky.social on what to expect from Friday's March employment report. The short version: the job market was already losing steam before the Iran war, and March is almost certain to look worse. Here is what the data is showing: https://bit.ly/4bKWVis
The February #JobsDay numbers came out and show the labor market faltered with payrolls down by 92,000 & unemployment up to 4.4%. Revisions to previous months show a weaker labor market, spurred by federal job cuts & the admin’s harsh immigration policy. (1/8)
With the #JobsDay data there are criticisms about the increase in unemployment, but labor-oriented recession indicators, like the @claudia-sahm.bsky.social rule, Modified U6 #SahmRule, the #MichezRule, still do not point to a downturn.
A bad or weakening economy is not the same thing as recession.
Today’s #JobsDay reveals a dramatically slowing economy: we lost 92,000 jobs in February and unemployment rates for Black and Latina women got worse.
Hispanic EPOP ratio since December 2019. Tasa de empleo hispana desde diciembre de 2019.
The share of Hispanics w/ a job (63.8%) also fell slightly last month after what seemed like a strong start to 2026 in January. Both Latinas (60.0%) and Latinos (75.4%) saw their employment rates contract in February. Both figures now stand below those recorded in November 2025. #JobsDay #EconSky
Hispanic unemployment rate since December 2019. Tasa de desempleo hispana desde diciembre de 2019.
The Hispanic unemployment rate (UR) climbed to 5.2% last month. This was driven by a sharper than usual rise in the UR of Latinos, to 4.5%, which reversed the January gains. The UR of Latinas (5.0%) also kept the upward trend that started late last year in December. #JobsDay #EconSky
Never base the entire economic outlook on one report, but this is *not* great. For months, we have been holding our breath watching the labor market get weaker and weaker. It may finally be beginning to break. #jobsday
Why are Black women continuing to bear the brunt of unemployment? Three words: #TheDoubleTax.
What Dr. Valerie Wilson has shown is that the group experiencing joblessness is COLLEGE-EDUCATED Black women. Let that sink in. #jobsreport #jobsday
While Black women's labor force participation is up (the share of Black women looking for jobs or working), the rising unemployment rate continues to be a concerning trend.
