Altered book journal. I had written a loving journal entry over a page I had already altered. I never posted it. Last night I got angry and distorted the old entry and wrote some not-so-loving words instead. Anger is probably my favorite stage of grief because it's a really simple and uncomplicated emotion for me, and not one I am used to anymore. My anger is a recognition that I have been treated unjustly, and giving myself a lot of space for this rage is a kind and loving thing to do for myself. I'm all I have, and so I have to be able to live with myself.

I failed. My heart will no longer be safe. / I was right about everyone from the start. I should have listened to myself. People get scared when you believe in yourself.
My confessional art is not a movement, it is how I live, it is who ai am. Freedom in integrity is fucking lonely. But I know who I am! Do you? / I needed all those people to tell me that silence was okay, that I was allowed not to know. I needed them to not wait for me because waiting meant they were an audience and I was on stage. I didn't know if I wanted the part they were trying to make me audition for.

Page in a notebook. Black and white page from a magazine was torn in pieces, glued down, then some of the papers were ripped back out, leaving large bits behind on the notebook page. On top of that, in the center are words cut out from different books, arranged to say: These were shards of / death / bitter on my tongue. / hard / years / heavy head. / I coped with matters/ yet so much was missing

The note reads: "I think I am not human and I can't handle this experience of trying to be so part of me leaves when it needs to. Why do I have to be so different? What am I supposed to do with that?" The text contains some errors, mistypes that were "crossed out" by going back and typing Xs over them. Surrounding the Post - It is a journal entry in black ink. It begins: "Update: they were wrong about me all along" the entry is written in cursive, and parts are illegible. The journal entry is a lament about being misdiagnosed with a psychotic disorder, when the symptoms were in fact trauma responses (i.e. blunted affect, dissociation).
