Construction on Kalamazoo College.
This is way overexposed (my first time using this camera), but I still like the image, so I distressed it a bit.

Hey sports fans: K College is giving you a way to support their teams and Care Collective at the same time! This is a truly amazing thing K College is doing. We appreciate the work these athletes are putting in to support menstruators and caregivers.

Black and white infrared photograph of the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The image showcases the building’s distinctive curved façade, constructed from cordwood masonry—short logs set in mortar—creating a textured, organic appearance. Tall ornamental grasses, rendered bright white by the infrared effect, grow around the gently sloping concrete pathways and steps leading to the entrance. The surrounding trees and plants glow with the same ethereal brightness, contrasting against the dark sky and structure. The scene has a surreal, otherworldly atmosphere due to the infrared rendering and dramatic lighting.

Photograph of a muddy construction site where workers operate large red drilling equipment amid wet, uneven ground. Several workers in neon yellow safety shirts and hard hats are seen coordinating near the machines, which are labeled with "GTD GT35" and other industrial markings. The machinery is covered in mud, with hoses, cables, and drill pipes strewn across the site. Orange-and-white striped barricades partially frame the scene, and trees and a lamp post are visible in the background, indicating the site is located in a developed, possibly urban area. The atmosphere is humid and overcast, adding to the gritty, active worksite feel.

Photograph of a bright yellow tennis ball lodged at the bottom of a black chain-link fence, just above a rough concrete base. The ball is a Wilson USTA model, partially obscured by the fence, and appears to have landed there from a nearby tennis court, which is faintly visible in the blurred background. A black mesh windscreen is attached to the upper part of the fence, adding contrast to the sharp texture of the metal grid and crumbling concrete. The focus is tight, emphasizing the isolation and stillness of the forgotten ball.

The USTA tennis thingy begins tomorrow (August 1, 2025) at Kalamazoo College's Stowe Stadium. This is my usual record of the event.

Permanent.

After several years of temporary closure, they replaced Academy Street's unattractive temporary barricades with unattractive permanent ones.
