Gone #fishing? Take a good look around before setting up to fish. If any #plovers in sight, give them space. Keep away from fenced areas as the bird would be kept off the nest. Remember to take your litter home!

#Surfers, if you’re getting changed in the dunes, watch where you step and look out for #birds! Otherwise, surfing is generally a hoodie compatible activity! Don’t leave your dog on the beach when you’re surfing though!

3/3 #KnowYourPlover If a #MaskedLapwing swoops you, don't curse them. Remember they’re just protecting their chicks! Like other #plovers, the tiny chicks can’t fly & must navigate urban landscapes to find food! Now imagine how vulnerable they are! #PAD2019 #ProtectingHoodedPlover

We also have some athletes that migrate to Australia over summer, like the Grey Plover (only females come to AUS from Arctic regions!), Double-banded Plover (from New Zealand) and Oriental Plover (from China and loves our arid regions!).

A very diverse group of birds, #plovers are found in very different habitats and not always close to water! Among our residents, the Inland Dotterel and Banded Lapwing live in dry and arid regions!
