Photo of 490 N. Kingshighway, taken on 3.24.26. See agenda item 9. Project is being dramatically reduced in scope.
The terms of the tax abatement are being adjusted slightly: for years 1 -5, the tax abatement percentage is 80%; it was previously 90%. The years 6-10, the tax abatement remains unchanged at 75%.
There is not an updated financial analysis included in Resolution No. 26-LCRA-10996. I don't think that approval by the Board of Aldermen is necessary for the change in terms of the tax abatement. The BOA has no role in the authorization of the sales tax exemption (STE) on construction materials; LCRA authorizes the STE.

The contrast between unmet needs in ARPA-funded programs, as discussed at #HUDZ today

VS.

STL’s apparent unmet needs for a luxury boutique hotel discussed at #LCRAstl

Tells me a lot about the capacity of government to fail the people & simultaneously benefit corporations.

Today at 2 p.m. SLDC “Community Town Hall” about the remediation/demo work underway at 4690 & #4700Goodfellow

I’m curious as to the identity of the contractor(s) performing the work.

Odd that the town hall is only 30 minutes long & takes place an hour before the #LCRAstl zoom board meeting.

Awaiting its hearing before the #HUDZ Committee, #BOAbb169 boosts the value of the tax abatement for building a new hotel, possibly two, on land at Market and Jefferson that was once home to the Peoples Finance Building.
