As new guidance lands on safer streets for women and girls, it's clear: walking and wheeling cut air pollution - but only if streets feel safe for everyone.
Clean air starts with better streets 💚

A post on LinkedIn from Property Council ACT that reads:
ADVOCACY WIN. Yesterday the ACT Government released an updated Schedule of Fees for the user of Public Unleased Land - a welcome relief after the shock of initial fees to charge PER DAY for road and path closures across the Territory. These additional fees, imposed without consultation, could have added thousands of dollars to existing and future projects - and had a significant impact on the feasibility of developments and housing delivery across Canberra. We commend the ACT Government and Minister Chris Steel for listening to our concerns and postponing these new charges. We will continue to work with the Directorate on proposed charges to get the balance right."

If path closures is an impact to you in Canberra, it is worth noting that it would appears that the Property Council had lobbied ACT Government and Chris Steel to either delay or not proceed with the fees for path closures in the ACT. Their […]

My problem with this is if it would actually get used. What I know from pedestrian activity is, pedestrians will find the easiest, quickest and most convenient way to walk. I would expect this to be especially true of teenagers.

So if we built a pedestrian bridge, would it get used, or would […]

Andrew Barr's office advised me a week ago that Tara Cheyne's office is looking into the situation at Botanical Turner. I haven't heard anything yet, so I have sent a follow up email to her office this morning.

The issue is ongoing at the site.

An email from TCCS to Matthew Cullis regarding report of safety concern. It reads the following: Hello Matthew, Thank you for taking the time to submit a Fix My Street request and letting us know about an issue important to you and your local area. I am pleased to advise you that your request relating to Fix My Street > Cycle & footpaths > Fencing & bollards > Report safety concern - 131-141 CITY WALK, CITY ACT 2601 has been resolved. The resolution applied to this issue was: Bollard cover replaced. Your request has been closed through Fix My Street.

The email then talks about how you can find information about scheduled works.

It is no wonder why there is such distrust with Fix My Street in Canberra.
