M63 The Sunflower Galaxy - telescope processed image. It is a flocculent spiral galaxy, meaning its arms appear "fluffy" or jagged rather than having a few long, continuous spiral sweeps.

M63 The Sunflower Galaxy - unprocessed image. A massive, looping stream of stars surrounds M63, likely the remains of a smaller dwarf galaxy it shredded and "ate" long ago.

Moonlight was pretty bright again before the eclipse that pretty much affected most of last night’s observations. Here is what I got if #M63 #TheSunflowerGalaxy. #dwarflabs #dwarfmini #space #astronomy #amateur

M63 - Sunflower Galaxy - telescope processed image. Unlike galaxies with long, clear arms, M63 is "flocculent," meaning it has many short, patchy arm segments that look like a sunflower’s petals.

Here is the last image from the Odyssey Pro for today - #M63 - #TheSunflowerGalaxy. I have more images taken earlier, but need to make it home to identify some other galaxies that are in the images. #unistellar #odysseypro #space #astronomy #amateur

M63 - The Sunflower Galaxy in Canes Venatici - AstroBin M63 is one of my favourite galaxies. The combination of intriguing structures in its spiral arms, Hα highlights, and faint outer stellar spirals makes it a highly rewarding target for high-resolution...

🍾Congrats to Robert Shepherd💫
For the #AstroBin #IOTD for 2025 June 3 "M63 - Sunflower Galaxy". Taken with TS-Optics 14" f/4.6 + Tele Vue 3in BIG Paracorr + Astronomik filters (Hα, RGBL), & ZWO ASI2600MM Pro camera.

Whirlpool vibes in the cosmos! 🌀 Check out this image of M63, the Sunflower Galaxy, located about 27 million light-years away. Its bright yellow core and spiraling arms dotted with young blue stars make it a truly photogenic beauty.

I recently captured 18.5 hours of data on the Sunflower Galaxy #M63. By some miracle, I got two whole clear nights in a row after a month of clouds. This turned out much better than I expected!

Stunning image of the Sunflower Galaxy (M63 or NGC 5055), a spiral galaxy in Canes Venatici. Its swirling arms, glowing with blue young stars and red emission nebulae, are punctuated by dark dust filaments. Light from this galaxy, which interacts gravitationally with M51, takes 35 million years to reach Earth. The galaxy's high stellar rotation speed suggests the presence of dark matter.
