We were proud to #MarchOnWallStreet to demand economic justice. I was reminded of my father’s lesson that economic justice is inseparable from civil rights. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not optional; they are essential.

Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and Reverend Al Sharpton backstage at the March on Wall Street in New York City on August 28, 2025. #zohranmamdani #alsharpton #marchonwallstreet
On Aug 28, we march on Wall Street for justice.
As an educator and parent, I see the weight of inequality every day—in our schools, our families, and our communities.
Together we rise.
¡Ya basta!

August 28th marks 62 years since the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. 👏 #MarchOnWallStreet
We were proud to join the National Action Network and my good friend, Rev. Al Sharpton, for the #MarchOnWallStreet.
On the 62nd anniversary of the #MarchOnWashington and in the financial capital of the world, we marched for economic justice and fair opportunities for ALL.
This morning, NEA joined Reverend Al Sharpton, and thousands more for the historic #MarchOnWallStreet to demand economic justice, fair wages, healthcare, housing, and equality.
🎥 Watch the rally:
An 1199-SEIU member holds up a poster: Healthcare workers demand jobs, housing, healthcare, education for all!
The Public Advocate shakes Assembly Member Taylor's hands as both smile
The Public Advocate, holding a peace sign, poses with a smiling Assemblymember Mamdani
An AFSCME member marches with a poster reading, Billionaires: Back off!
"We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead."
Our steps echoed Dr. King's words at NAN's #MarchOnWallStreet in demanding justice and equality.
From 1963 to 2025, from the African Burial Ground to Wall Street, we keep marching.
Rev #AlSharpton:
“I invited all the candidates for mayor here today…let’s welcome Andrew Cuomo…
Oh he’s not here. (Laughs)
Let’s welcome Eric Adams…
Oh he’s not here. (Bigger laughs)
Let’s welcome Zohran Mamdani…”
(ZM appears, big cheers)

Prices keep going up for working families, but instead of getting support, anti-worker extremists are further rigging our economy in favor of billionaires & greedy corporations. That’s why we’re joining the #MarchOnWallStreet with the National Action Network—to demand fairness and change.

August 28th commemorates the original March on Washington, where we played an important strategizing role. In just 3 days, 1199ers will be at the #MarchOnWallStreet bc we know the fight for economic justice is intertwined in the fight for civil justice.

My father said voting is the “foundation stone for political action.”
Today, voter suppression and economic inequality threaten that foundation. On August 28, we're joining Rev Al & NAN for a #MarchOnWallStreet to fight for justice and equity. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
