The Marine Layer crept in this evening after a glorious warm sunny day. Noyo Headlands, Fort Bragg, California.
I’m excited that it’s still light when I get out of work now. #marinelayer #northcoast
Marine layer.
Not fog! A cool Tuesday morning as I work and stare out of my window. It's going to be a nice day today

Me in my Mountain Sherpa before sunrise pretending it isn’t going to reach 72 degrees on Christmas in Greensboro today. Jingle Bells, y’all. #marinelayer #solinvictus
At the edge of the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens with the marine layer on the horizon over the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Northern California.

Really glad I dragged my arse off the coach.
Late afternoon hike along the Noyo Headlands Trail. The light was magical. #marinelayer ☁️✨ #dailydoseofthecoast
Alley in Ocean Beach with garages, cars, trash bins, and overhead power lines. Marine layer fills the distance and softens the houses. A tree on the right shows a deep red-orange tone from an IR Chrome filter, which converts reflected infrared light into warm hues. The moisture in the air adds a cool blue cast to the rest of the scene.

A residential street in dense morning fog, lined with parked cars on both sides. The trees and palms appear in vivid red due to an infrared Chrome filter. The fog softens the entire background and causes the far end of the street to fade into white. Houses appear on the left behind a white fence, and a small red utility cart sits at the curb in the foreground. The pavement shows a faded “STOP” marking near the front edge of the frame.

My kiddo, in Temecula where it’s 93 degrees, asked if we could go to #lajolla so I took a pic of the greyness and told him to go to the community pool in town instead… #socal #marinelayer

I appreciate the marine layer here in coastal SoCal these days even more lately because I don't have to see the outside world; if even for just a short while. #california #marinelayer
Misty Mountain | Minute of Zen
There is nothing more beautiful as a cloud in the morning that's decided to lay low and hang with us. Shot in Malibu, California on Monday, February 3rd, 2025. Comment "Low-Hanging Clouds" if you've read this far. #Zen #Clouds #MarineLayer #Ocean #Mountains

The #MarineLayer often comes in at 30-40 mph. I'm not sure if this is still Pacifica or already Daly City to the north. Shot from the Pacifica Pier.
A #CoastGuard #helicopter in front of the #MarineLayer. This is the San Mateo County coast.
The #PacificaPier in the late afternoon. The wall of #fog is the almost ever-present #MarineLayer out to sea.

Another view of #LindaMar and the #MarineLayer.
The #MarineLayer is coming in at #LindaMar, CA. Linda Mar Beach is one of the few beaches safe for swimming and surfing because it does not experience significant cross currents and riptides.

I'm driving on #I-280 toward San Francisco in what looks like #fog. However, it's not fog but the #MarineLayer coming in from the Pacific, so technically, I'm driving through a #cloud that is touching the ground.
The view is looking down the base of a mountain as it becomes the valley. There are golden grass areas and patches of oak trees. In the distance is a patch of sunshine and blue sky, but further away is a bank of clouds hanging low over the valley and casting a shadow below.

That ever present marine layer rolling in and out along the California coast this time of year. The ocean is under the clouds, and the interior is burning off.

A foggy atmosphere shrouds this view of a huge monolith haystack-shaped rock on a tan sandy beach at low tide. There’s a large shorter rock immediately in front of the haystack rock, pluse various other significant but much smaller rocks on the beach in the foreground. The rocks are mostly grey, tan and off-white in color with a bit of darker brown and black here and there. The rocks in the foreground are sitting in a shallow pool of water. The foggy sky is grey on the left side of the image and blends to blue-grey on the right side.
A #grey, wonderfully foggy morning walk at low tide on Cannon Beach. I was loving the atmosphere!
