Echium pininana taking off for flowering.

Bugle (Ajuga reptans) city.

My trusty Panda admiring the unmisty peaks of Cadair Idris.

The Mawddach Estuary basking in the sunshine at low-ish tide this morning.

There really has been some spectacular light whilst I've been on my morning runs this week.

There were at least four seasons in one day today, possibly as many as seven.

Cadair Idris in the sunshine.
Mawddach estuary overcast, and obscured by great titmouse.

A semi-abstract painting of the Mawddach Estuary, from Barmouth, north Wales. A beached, bright yellow boat right of foreground, green blue water behind, stretching back to the line of Barmouth bridge crossing the bay and the Cadair Idris range beyond. Bright blue and ochre splashed across the sky.
A palette of bright blues, ochre, deep yellow, olive and cadmium orange.

A new painting: Abermawddach, oil and pigment sticks on birch, 70 x 100cm. We lost my mother last week. Childhood holidays were always spent in #Barmouth #Wales #MawddachEstuary #landscapepainting #grief

so it's a bit ahead of its peers.

Cadair Idris was, as usual, having none of it and kept its hat on.

A view of approximately where I was this afternoon, taken from Mawddach Crescent, where I was this morning.

What a beautiful day with a waxing gibbous moon bright in the clear, blue sky. It was so sunny, I didn't need my woolly hat!

The woodland bulbs are waking up, although this a particularly sheltered South facing garden,

The misty light on the Mawddach Estuary this morning was lovely though.

Rhewpert the snowman is looking rather the worse for wear. He lost his head and I think the jackdaws have been pecking at his nose. Still, with another storm forecast, he may yet rise again. Stay safe and warm, everyone.

Portrait of a man sitting on the ground facing the viewer, with his back to an estuary and mountain range beyond. He has his legs stretched out in front of him and hands resting on a walking stick, a pipe in his mouth. The palette is muted: almost entirely French raw umber, dark olive and warm white, with touches of Payne’s grey & ochre. One side is illuminated, whilst the other is heavily shadowed. The idea is to create a sense of transience and stillness (Wyeth was a master of this). The man’s clothes are almost transparent in places, whilst his legs and feet resemble a photographic negative.

The finished piece: oil on panel, 100 x 70cm. Portrait of my late father, from an old photo. I wanted to created a sense of transience, but simultaneously make him part of that place, rooted into the landscape. #portrait #grief #Mawddachestuary #Wales

A me, happy not to be being rained on.

As was the preening crow in the oak.

More beautiful autumn colours and misty vistas over the Mawddach estuary.

Then, only being small, I asked Michael to show me some photographs of views over the estuary that I wouldn't otherwise see.

Beautiful. I'm hopping along now. Toodle pip.

Good afternoon. It's time for another frog takeover. My name's Cassidy, and I live on Mawddach Crescent.

First, I want to show you these lovely sea-air-dried thrift flowers.

Brooding skies over the Mawddach estuary this afternoon.

The ghosts of bluebells and the promise of new flowers to come from witch hazel buds.
