For #MedievalMonday, a few photos of the incredible stained glass at St Michael and All Angels, Eaton Bishop.

The glass (probably made in France) dates from 1320-40, though was repositioned in the mid-C19.

Scenes include the crucifixion; St Michael weighing souls; and the Virgin and Child.

The stone keep of Colchester Castle, surrounded by a park with trees and grass.

Built on the foundations of a Roman temple, the keep of Colchester Castle in Essex is the largest of its kind anywhere in Europe. It was largely abandoned by the seventeenth century, but later restored and is now home to a marvelous museum @colmuseums.bsky.social. #MedievalMonday

Pair of spectacles from a late 14th century AD nunnery in Germany #MedievalMonday

In late medieval philosophy, visual perception was linked with the cognition of God's light, making glasses a physical embodiment of both sensory and spiritual clarity.
