Life-sized crocheted meganeura, unfinished. Body is crocheted in lavender and blues, head is green with fluorescent red/orange eyes. Wings are upcycled bug netting basted onto wire hangers re-formed into the correct wing shape. Wingspan will be about 70-75 cm.
For a small palate cleanser amid the horrors of this presidency, I bring you my in-process #crochet #meganeura. These giant extinct relatives of dragonflies had wingspans of up to 75 cm! Why so big? Maybe because atmospheric oxygen was ~40% (2x present levels). #PaleoArt #SciArt
