CHRONIC MIGRAINE:
🧠 nausea and vomiting during attacks
🧠 experiencing debilitating head pain that can last for
days
🧠 light, sound, and smell sensitivity so severe you hide in dark rooms
🧠 needing to cancel plans last minute
🧠 trying every treatment under the sun and still waking up in pain

ALSO CHRONIC MIGRAINE:

🧠 being dismissed as "just a
headache" by others, even doctors
🧠 pushing yourself to function and crashing later
🧠 becoming your own researcher, advocate, and pharmacist
🧠 looking fine on the outside
while silently enduring pain
🧠 being terrified of the next attack before this one has even ended
🧠 fighting through work meetings while your brain feels like it's short-circuiting
🧠 feeling guilty for missing out on life
🧠 brain fog so bad you forget words mid-sentence

COMMON TYPES OF HEADACHES & MIGRAINE

A cartoon of people with splotches of colors over each area. Each area represents a different type of migraine or headache disorder, of which there are a few missing! (Thunderclap and ice pick are two I can think of off the top of my head. No pun intended.)

Left to right and top to bottom

🧠Migraine
🧠Tension
🧠Hormone
🧠Exertion
🧠Cluster
🧠Allergy/Sinus
🧠Caffeine
🧠Rebound
🧠Hemicrania Continua
🧠Hypertension
🧠Post-Traumatic
🧠Spinal

I wish I could've found the creator and supporting info for this. From a patient standpoint it makes sense. As always if you know the creator or have further info, please add it to the comments so I can tag and cite appropriately. 🙏

It's #MigraineAwarenessMonth and I suffered a 40-day migraine recently. I've had migraine activity for years but I had no idea that they could last that long.

Let's learn about what a #migraine really feels like...

🧠 Pain, pressure, and exhaustion far beyond a "bad headache."
🧠 It feels like a jackhammer pounding inside your skull
with no off switch.
🧠 It's like trying to think through a fog while every sound and light feels ten times louder and brighter.
🧠 It feels like your brain is being squeezed and stabbed at the same time.
🧠 It feels like your head is too heavy for your body, like you could collapse under the weight of the pain.
🧠 It's a throbbing, relentless ache that makes time feel like it's standing still.
🧠 It feels like your senses have turned against you― smells, sounds, light-all too much.
🧠 It's being so exhausted you can barely sit upright, even though you haven't moved.
🧠 It feels like every heartbeat echoes painfully through your skull.

In the last 30 days, I've had 3 #migraine free days. Today is not one of them. June is #MigraineAwarenessMonth. And let me just say as much as you think #ChronicMigraine sucks, it sucks worse than that. Yes, I'm complaining, I'm absolutely sick of being so damn miserable. #Spoonie
