For anyone who has no idea what I'm talking about but is interested anyway, almost 3 years ago I starting trying to design from scratch 3D printed model rockets to carry a small video camera and altitude logger while remaining as small and light a possible.
I spent quite a bit of time fiddling […]
Photo of the top of a large cabinet (actually a fold out bed) with an assortment of 3D printed model rockets on it.
Photo of three 3D printed flying model rockets: a white one styled after the Gilmour Space Eris rocket, a slightly smaller deep red one, and an orange and teal one.
Dusting the rocket garden in my third bedroom/home office/maker space I am reminded that the white one on the left there is yet to fly.
I actually made this semi-scale flying model of the Gilmour Space Eris rocket way back in December 2022 but I killed the camera […]

Progress on the R2D2 #ModelRocket. The detail on the body comes from two large stickers. I was a little worked that after 48 years (much of that time in a hot or cold garage), they wouldn’t work well.
Fortunately, they did. Next up - legs!
Fun fact: The store owner, Angelo, used to be part of the Canadian Rocketry board! Hence the name, sunward!

An illustration, instructions and parts for a model rocket based on R2-D2
My project for the weekend: the R2-D2 flying model rocket. #ModelRocket #StarWars #Hobbies
Have you ever tried this one?? lots of Saturn V's in the store #revell #modelkit #saturnv #modelrocket #scalemodel #fyp #hobby #sabrinacarpenter #juno #sunwardhobbies
My #Apollo11 Saturn V shortly before its first launch a few years ago. This thing surprised me by flying as straight as an arrow.
It was a hard build, so I haven't had the guts to fly it a second time, but I should. I can always build another.

An Estes Leviathan #modelrocket I shot flying a few years ago. I love this picture - it's my phone background.
My picture, but not my rocket. Flew on an F15-6, if memory serves. A little underpowered, but the flight went fine.
Blueprint for a retro model rocketry launch pad.
I was bored while watching #ModelRocket videos; so I made a freehand / no-math / very-likely-wrong generic Centuri Launch Pad blueprint. Cursed, but enjoy!
NaHCO3 + HC2H3O2 → NaC2H3O2 + H2O + CO2. Happy to report the laws of Chemistry and Physics still apply on my driveway #ModelRocket
