Three passenger trains lurk in the shadows under an awning at dearborn Station in downtown chicago. From left to right the locomotiveas are: - Norfolk & Western #2482, an EMD GP9 - Monon Railroad #801, an Alco C420 - Chicago & Eastern Illinois #1100, an EMD E7 all are painted dark blue to some degree. Built in 1885, Dearborn Station served various railroads, then amtrak until 1976, when it closed. A neighborhood now sits where the tracks into the station were, and the old Station Building has been repurposed as an office/retail space.

This is my favorite of all the Monon Trail drawings I've done. The #monon helped me feel like I belong in a city that seemed, at first, like it was trying to kill me. My connection with #indianapolis is still tentative, but now has a core of magic and love. Thank you, big grandma and grandpa trees.
