An excellent Muscadet. 45-60yr old vines. 8mths ageing on the lees underground in tiled tanks. Mineral nose, honeydew melon, apricot & lychee on the palate slightly bitter finish. Much better chilled, goes vegetal when warmer. Not the usual lemon juice!

Last bottle of this cheap & cheerful well made sparkling. Muscadet (18-24mths on the lees). Simple Appley fizz from the lovely Château du Coing south east of Nantes. We cycled there along the river Sèvre from Nantes. Recommend a visit there for their still wines.

Visited Domaine Raphaël Luneau yesterday in the land between 2 rivers near Nantes. We tasted #Muscadet I never knew existed -up to 80 yr old vines, oak aged, 5 years on the Lees..not the humble supermarket wine I'm used to! Cru Goulaine 2014 was outstanding & a bargain!
