Per is looking for any information about these lithics from a house clearance in Cumbria. Just for interest, there's no research angle, he doesn't want to sell them, or donate them. He's just interested. My lithics are very rusty but I'd say #neolithic

This isn't a funnel to the underworld, it's excavation at #Neolithic Dunavec, Albania!

Found at the bottom of a lake, researchers dated the waterlogged wooden remains, indicating Dunavec was occupied by some of the first farmers in Europe.

Sky Disc of Nebra, reconstruction without green patina

The Nebra Sky Disk is particularly impressive. It is the deprocessualized and materialized symbolization of embodied experience of cyclical natural processes. A calendar from a time before ours. In my recent writings, I have attempted to explore what this means for a […]

We made a trip from Marburg to Halle to visit the State Museum of Prehistory (and check out a few archaeological sites). It’s a really great museum with a fantastic special exhibition. It’s also great for schoolchildren. We spent over half a day there.

Visited the sun observatory in Goseck today, the oldest known one in the world, much older than Stonehenge. As someone who's heavily interested in the technological and otherwise symbolic representation and constitution of experience I was very impressed and moved.

The Towie Ball is a gorgeous Scottish petrosphere. Every time I see it, my heart stutters and my brain buzzes. The lines are intricate and refined, the globes smooth and sculpted. It pleases my lizard brain to no end. There's something comforting about it.
