The Allegheny County Department of Public Works maintains 408 miles of roadway, 518 bridges, 500 retaining walls, & more!
During this Public Works Week, we celebrate the department’s 217 dedicated employees who keep our infrastructure in good, safe condition. #NPWW
It's National Public Works Week! Today, we are highlighting the Division of Highways. Did you know Erie County owns approximately 1,200 centerline miles of roads? Providing safe, functional roadways and bridges is another example of how DPW serves the residents of Erie County! #NPWW

Here are some fun facts about our public works crews:
➡️Horticulture staff installed 400 flower planters & 350 hanging baskets
➡️Parks staff maintained 98 sports fields
➡️Forestry staff pruned 10,867 street trees
➡️Roads & Works staff resurfaced 12km of roadway

Staying hydrated is important and the City’s Water Department has 168 employees who make it possible to deliver up to 150 million gallons of water to 230,000 people every day. #NPWW
The City has completed a major resurfacing project along Gale Avenue. This work included reconstructing curb ramps and replacing 12,000 square feet of sidewalks and driveways. These improvements help ensure safer, more efficient travel for everyone in our community. #NPWW
