Happy #nationalhedgerowweek. This was the first new hedge that we planted (with @pembscoast) at The Bug Farm in around 2014-2015. 10 years on and it is now taller than me - at least 10-foot high in most places .
Great to see my novel Our Precious Earth in the bookshop @rspb.bsky.social Pulborough Brooks.
The story features an ancient oak, bats, birds and hedgerows - it’s the last day of #NationalHedgerowWeek today!

Please can we stop cutting hedges so low each year? Birds need them above 5 feet to safely nest, and second year growth is vital to provide overwintering food. #NationalHedgerowWeek
🌿 As #NationalHedgerowWeek ends, we’re celebrating our Hedgerow Heroes project!
Now in its 4th year, 8 CPRE groups across the nation have restored 18 miles of hedgerow🌱

🦇 Today is the last day of #NationalHedgerowWeek .
Hedgerows are an extremely important habitat feature for bats in the UK as they provide food, shelter and valuable landmarks for their orientation. They use hedgerows as corridors to commute from one area to another.
It's #NationalHedgerowWeek! 🌳🌳🌳
Hedgerows play a vital role in enhancing rivers, creating corridors, slowing surface water & filtering pollutants. 🐟💦🌱
We're looking for opportunities to create new hedgerows like these ones we planted in 2020.

Hedgerows are one of the most important habitats we have, providing food and shelter for many creatures. But we’ve lost thousands of miles of hedgerow since the 1950s. So please plant a hedge, to help wildlife, people and planet!

It's #NationalHedgerowWeek and we are highlighting our work to ensure that hedgerows are recognised, valued and an integral part of farm and rural economies. www.organicresearchcentre.com/news-events/...
To celebrate National Hedgerow Week 2025, The Tree Council and Hodder Press are giving away five copies of Michael Morpurgo’s first non-fiction book for adults in forty years, alongside a beautiful print by artist Charlotte Whatmore, bookmark and pack of seeds. #NationalHedgerowWeek 🌳
We’ve had hedges in the UK since the bronze ages and many that exist today are truly ancient. It’s no surprise many hedgerows host ancient woodland indicator species and native animals which rely on this ancient network for survival.👇

Today is the day! Happy #NationalHedgerowWeek 💚
Hedgerows are the often-unsung heroes of the British countryside, yet they form the UK’s largest wildlife habitat, are a major part of our landscape and cultural heritage, and are crucial to halting biodiversity decline and tackling climate change.
