A plaque in the National Museum of Scotland displaying "At £20 (nearly £3000), this was one of the most expensive chairs sold in 18th-century Britain. It was part of a set made for property developer, politician and owner of enslaved people Sir Lawrence Dundas."
Was at the #NationalMuseumOfScotland today and had to share this plaque I saw on one of the exhibits.
I must say the way "owner of enslaved people" is said while listing off what Sir Lawrence Dunas did is almost comically bad.
The #NationalMuseumOfScotland (not here yet) has a lovely Christmas tree, but sadly I couldn't find these Dolly the Sheep decorations in the shops. Missed opportunity...
....and the entire museum is a happy place for any selfrespecting archaeologist. #NationalMuseumOfScotland
