Hepatica americana (round-lobed hepatica). Several single-stemmed flowers, some with white petals, some with purple, emerging from a bed of leaves. The leaves are tri-lobed, and the stems are furry.

Got my second #nativeplant tattoo yesterday, of Hepatica americana (or many other scientific names!) Hepatica is my "birthday flower," as it's in bloom in early April around here. It's a spring ephemeral wildflower found in moist woodlands throughout the northeast U.S. #nativeplantsofnewengland
