F1000Research Article: CODECHECK: an Open Science initiative for the independent execution of computations underlying research articles during peer review to improve reproducibility. Read the latest article version by Daniel Nüst, Stephen J. Eglen, at F1000Research.

Interesting pointer from a #JEDI thread offering a description of a process to integrate evaluation of computational reproducibility into #PeerReview:

Anecdote from the other side:
In health economic papers it is quite usual to report the response patterns from a particular questionnaire, e.g.,
11111
12111
...

Despite our efforts to communicate this to the publisher's staff, the proofs went out
11,111
12,111

Even as a #NightshiftEditor I had an automated reference checker at my disposal:
every reference in a paper was pre-screened. Those that were found were highlighted as such. The others, usually a small proportion, I could check by hand.

Not saying I/we didn't miss any. But the technology is there.

EASE Germany Webinar: Clinical trial transparency, from registration to results reporting YouTube video by European Association of Science Editors (EASE)

Great @easeeditors.bsky.social seminar yesterday
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjYW...

Really good content also for authors, PIs, #PeerReview -ers & people who consider #RCT methodology for future work.

The discussion was lively and covered some advanced topics.

As a former #NightshiftEditor I add (unsolicited😉), whether AI generated or not, I think this is a largely unhelpful review. Nearly every sentence an example of how NOT to do it:
Opinion-driven, vague, no reasoning provided, and very little actionable content.

We have all had those.

I wonder whether this point from #NightshiftEditor feedback on a #ResearchMethods paper has application to (my 😉) life more broadly..?

Trends in Citation Patterns for New Investigators and Manuscript Writing for Health-related Quality of Life Research

For early-career researchers, including graduate students, recent doctoral graduates, and faculty members, in Quality of Life research, navigating the publication process can be daunting. This session will first delve into the citation trajectories and burgeoning domains of interest from the ISOQOL New Investigator Special Interest Group members. The session will then draw on expertise of editors of ISOQOL journals to provide advice for early career researchers to enhance the publication of their patient-reported outcome papers. QLR and JPRO editors will share advice and their view on trends in the field from 2017-2024. This session will also include an interactive discussion about skills needed in writing better academic papers.

Conference abstract for the workshop
How to establish an equitable open access publishing model for Psychotherapy Research

In person: Full-day workshop with Mila Hall. The topic of open access publications has been around for a bit more than 20 years, including relevant options for psychotherapy researchers. Although access to research results is generally deemed crucial for promoting evidence-based practice and encouraging research-practice exchange, open access publishing models remain hotly debated. In this full-day workshop, we aim to introduce the audience to pertinent issues in scientific publishing, particularly focusing on those involved in making research accessible. Though accessibility issues can refer to a variety of topics (such as public reach, comprehensibility, topics related to disability justice), we will restrict ourselves for the day to accessibility as being “able to be retrieved without barriers”. [redacted due to space constraints]
