Shame Kingston Council didn’t take this option

But then privatisation of public spaces was always their plan

We wonder why Cllr Andreas Kirsch hasn’t mentioned the CRE development in his annual report about council achievements in 2025?

Is it because council residents still not being housed in the first part a full year after they were meant to be

Yet again residents let down

Lovely to see so many Christmas lights brightening up our nighttime neighbourhoods

Especially when residents associations coordinate them

Kingston residents to miss second Christmas at home as Norbiton estate regeneration continues Residents of Norbiton's Cambridge Road Estate face another Christmas away from home, as their move-in date is postponed to the new year.

For some it’s a lot more as some were moved out in 2019/2020

The original council promise that people would be away for only six months was worthless as a promise

Equally the promise of choosing to move in with old neighbours

Not the best part of Kingston

Not even the best part of Norbiton either but it’s home

And there’s a double rainbow too

This developers have reported back that tree roots have invaded the sewer, and that the roots have been cleared.

We hope this doesn’t kill the weeping willow that has been there for decades. Nor will the willow be harmed further

After reports and pictures of sewage coming out onto the pathways of the new CRE development in #Norbiton the developers are to investigate (a day after it was first raised by local residents)

The development is due to accept its first residents almost a year late next month

Not sure why this crossing is not a zebra crossing- we know there’s one down the road but the one (shown) is popular with staff and visitors to #Kingston Hospital from #Norbiton station

We request Kingston cllrs help

The other zebra crossing means pedestrians crossing a side road

London fire brigade reveals cause of Queen Mary Hall fire The London Fire Brigade believes the fire at Queen Mary Hall in Norbiton was caused by an electrical fault.

Glad to see this important community facility is reopening finally

However questions need to be asked over it’s refurbishment a year earlier given the cause of the fire

We agree

The CRE in #Norbiton is currently being demolished

The consultation wasn’t good, the pressure was put on for a “yes” vote (otherwise the estate was told it would be allowed to run down”) and many promises in the initial briefings have been overturned by the council

It looks like the important crossing on Hawks Road, #Norbiton, won’t be replaced in a hurry after the crash last week, despite roadworks next to it

Why important? It’s a main route for residents in the CRE and surrounding areas to get to the town centre & one local primary school

Missed chance RBK

We are hoping that RBK repairs the zebra crossing damage on Haws Road, #Norbiton, after the overnight big crash

As roadworks are scheduled this week next to it - doing it would make sense at the same time given it’s used as a route to St Joseph’s Primary School

Could @RBKingston please ensure that street cleaners do not wreck pocket green spaces that brighten up our streets

Noted the driver of the vehicle wasn’t the first driver to run over this but council contractors, like council staff, should be setting an example

Praised, then razed: why is UK’s best building of 1996 being demolished? The Centenary Building in Salford was described as ‘dynamic and sophisticated’ when it won the first Stirling prize. Now it is to be knocked down as part of a colossal development

Not even 20 years old

Almost as bad as RBK’s decision to knock down a 15-year-old building in #Norbiton in 2023

Concrete is a major contributor to CO2 emissions too

Kingston Council's redevelopments leave housing in short supply, argue locals – Kingston Courier Locals have suggested Kingston Council's private development projects are only making the existing housing crisis worse.

#Homelessness

The ongoing saga over the Cambridge Road Estate #Norbiton regeneration is adding to growing pressure on borough’s homelessness

While the amount of empty properties within the borough have shot up 152% in a year, pressure on housing has increased

Kingston trees at risk due to urban construction and lack of care – Kingston Courier Concerns have been raised that trees in Kingston may be at risk of being destroyed due to building works and a lack of government conservation.

We totally agree with @benton2.bsky.social & @ssrakingston.bsky.social

Cllrs & the council need to be ensuring trees are kept & cared for. The new development is sanitising #biodiversity in #Norbiton because the patchwork of gardens are being lost

Just seen a clip from LibDem #housing spokesperson Christine Jardine on the need for community-led house building from #BBCQT

Astounded that she has the front to say this when her colleagues here (inc the wife of the party leader) have done the opposite for #Norbiton ‘s CRE regen
