Shame Kingston Council didn’t take this option
But then privatisation of public spaces was always their plan
#Retrofit #Norbiton #PublicHousing
We wonder why Cllr Andreas Kirsch hasn’t mentioned the CRE development in his annual report about council achievements in 2025?
Is it because council residents still not being housed in the first part a full year after they were meant to be
Yet again residents let down
#Norbiton #Housing
Lovely to see so many Christmas lights brightening up our nighttime neighbourhoods
Especially when residents associations coordinate them
H/T to @ssrakingston.bsky.social & Manorgate RA in #Norbiton
For some it’s a lot more as some were moved out in 2019/2020
The original council promise that people would be away for only six months was worthless as a promise
Equally the promise of choosing to move in with old neighbours

Advance warning of a litter pick by local residents group @ssrakingston.bsky.social
(Please note this is organised by them and has no connection with us but as a community group we are happy to advertise it)
Litter pick taking place in Fairfield on Saturday 15 November
Next Fairfield litter pick coming up on Saturday 15 November from 2-3pm in Central Kingston - all welcome! #GreenerKingston #Norbiton
We are loving the new look painting on the outside of the #Norbiton pub - The Bricklayers Arms. Very bright
Greenery with house roofs in the background and two rainbows in the sky: the top being faint
#Norbiton
Not the best part of Kingston
Not even the best part of Norbiton either but it’s home
And there’s a double rainbow too
This developers have reported back that tree roots have invaded the sewer, and that the roots have been cleared.
We hope this doesn’t kill the weeping willow that has been there for decades. Nor will the willow be harmed further
#Norbiton
After reports and pictures of sewage coming out onto the pathways of the new CRE development in #Norbiton the developers are to investigate (a day after it was first raised by local residents)
The development is due to accept its first residents almost a year late next month

A cross roads with worn out Giveway markings
Worn white lines
A kini roundabout with worn circulation markings
A mini-roundabout with faded/ worn markings
The Road Safety Auditor bit of me says that these white lines need painting again. #NewMalden #Norbiton
Looking downhill on a road with two road divider signs marking a traffic island
Not sure why this crossing is not a zebra crossing- we know there’s one down the road but the one (shown) is popular with staff and visitors to #Kingston Hospital from #Norbiton station
We request Kingston cllrs help
#RoadSafety
The other zebra crossing means pedestrians crossing a side road

Glad to see this important community facility is reopening finally
However questions need to be asked over it’s refurbishment a year earlier given the cause of the fire

We agree
The CRE in #Norbiton is currently being demolished
The consultation wasn’t good, the pressure was put on for a “yes” vote (otherwise the estate was told it would be allowed to run down”) and many promises in the initial briefings have been overturned by the council
It looks like the important crossing on Hawks Road, #Norbiton, won’t be replaced in a hurry after the crash last week, despite roadworks next to it
Why important? It’s a main route for residents in the CRE and surrounding areas to get to the town centre & one local primary school
Missed chance RBK
We are hoping that RBK repairs the zebra crossing damage on Haws Road, #Norbiton, after the overnight big crash
As roadworks are scheduled this week next to it - doing it would make sense at the same time given it’s used as a route to St Joseph’s Primary School
#RoadSafety

Green space with various tyre marks over it.
Street cleaning vehicle with registration number AF19BYP.
Could @RBKingston please ensure that street cleaners do not wreck pocket green spaces that brighten up our streets
Noted the driver of the vehicle wasn’t the first driver to run over this but council contractors, like council staff, should be setting an example

Exciting times on the Cambridge Road Estate as the pedestrian & cycling access between Washington Road (off Hawks Road) & Piper Road (leading to Bonner Hill Road & Kingston cemetery) reopens after two years! ✨ #Norbiton
Dear Norbiton Residents,
Show your bike some #ValentinesDay love - protect it
Report from #Norbiton police
We will hold a Bike Marking Event on Friday 14th February 2025 from 15:00 to 16:00 outside Norbiton Station Coombe Road. You are all welcome.
Kind regards,
PCSO Geoffrey Jjingo
Not even 20 years old
Almost as bad as RBK’s decision to knock down a 15-year-old building in #Norbiton in 2023
Concrete is a major contributor to CO2 emissions too

Thank you to the River Cafe in #Norbiton (on Cambridge Road) for hosting today’s CREst (Cambridge Road Estate [Residents’ Association]) AGM
Kingston Cycling Campaign will bringing Dr Bike to the next RBKares Wellbeing Day event on Tues 7 Jan at St Peter's Church
Looking forward to helping Norbiton residents get their bikes back on the road at the next RBKares Wellbeing Day on Tuesday 7 January. #Norbiton
#Homelessness
The ongoing saga over the Cambridge Road Estate #Norbiton regeneration is adding to growing pressure on borough’s homelessness
While the amount of empty properties within the borough have shot up 152% in a year, pressure on housing has increased

We totally agree with @benton2.bsky.social & @ssrakingston.bsky.social
Cllrs & the council need to be ensuring trees are kept & cared for. The new development is sanitising #biodiversity in #Norbiton because the patchwork of gardens are being lost
