A small section of The North America Nebula. The whole thing is huge and a similar shape to the continent it's named after. Imagine this part as Mexico and Central America, with the dark area on the right at the Gulf of Mexico and the dark to the left as the Pacific ocean. Make sense...!? Anyway, it can be found in the constellation Cygnus. It's around 2,500 lightyears away, and around 140 lightyears across! Its designation is NGC 7000, or C20. This photo was captured on my ZWO Seestar S50 telescope over a period of 2.5 hours in my North Yorkshire back garden and then processed in Lightroom.
Morning beautiful Bluesky'ers! Lastnight I set my scope on The North America Nebula (or at least the interesting part). It was only a few hours before the clouds rolled in but I managed to capture some AMAZING detail! I get so excited by the cosmos!
