The Salt Marsh caterpillar looked like it would go prepupa any day. So did some research & asked some bug-people how to help it have just the right place. Turns out they pupate in dry leaves/twigs. I gathered sticks, soil, & leaves and put in a container inside the cage. #MonarchRanch #NotAMonarch

The queen caterpillar that was a hitchhiker on a milkweed plant we bought became a beautiful butterfly. We drove it 30 miles from Eastern San Diego Co back to Encinitas, to very near where it was laid as an egg. It was a very good flier & hope it lived a good, long, life. #MonarchRanch #NotAMonarch
