The Early Spider Orchids were finally flowering at St Aldhelm's Head this morning, a fair while after other sites along the Purbeck coast. One of my favourite #orchids, even if not quite the showiest.

The view from the summit of Mount Montgomery, looking back to Ulverstone and the Bass Strait, the shore of which was where I started the walk.
Still quite dry in the north, so not many fungi aside from the pioneer boletes. Top left os a beautiful shaggy cap (Boletellus emodensis).

Not many people know that if a recidivist penguin damaged your property in Tasmania, between 1902 and 1962, you were legally entitled to call an officer of the law to have it incarcerated until it had been successfully rehabilitated and was able to reenter society. They struggled with the laundry press with those little flippers, though.
